Dear brothers and sisters,
We want to thank you for your kind support. You have enabled
us to continually innovate and bring you products of highest
quality. Recently we introduced our Austrian Pumpkin Seed
Butter made from a special pumpkin seed that is a culinary
specialty of southeastern Austria. We were gratified by your
response. We’ve also recently introduced a delicious
hazelnut butter. (Only at Living Tree would anyone add chia
seeds to a nut butter!) Our pistachio pesto features sun-dried
California olives.
Just now it is our delight to bring to you Native American
pinyon nuts, a traditional food going back millennia. We are
also bringing you dried persimmons,they are a glowing orange
red, a festive addition to any fruit salad.Wherever possible
we support California family farmers. To us intentionality
and enthusiasm are as much a part of a food as its mundane
materiality.

Long,long ago substantial numbers of people lived within the present boundaries of the Great Basin. This is a large, arid region of the western United States.The 200,000 square mile plateau covers most of Nevada and over half of Utah, as well as parts of California, Idaho, Oregon and Wyoming. Archaeological studies suggest human habitation stretching back some 12,000 years. The Great Basin provided small game for the Northwestern bands, but of even greater importance were the grass seeds and plant roots which grew in abundance in the valleys and along the hillsides of northern Utah. By far the most important seed to the Great Basin people was the pine nut, taken from the single-needle pinyon pine (pinus monophyllia) or the double-needle pinyon (pinus edulis). The nut was a staple in the diet of all the peoples of this region. It was a life-link food with gatherings celebrations, creation stories and teachings all accompanying the yearly harvest. The pine nut harvest began in the late summer and lasted into the fall.
The pine nut is an excellent food source. The nut is protein packed with all 20 amino acids and a very high concentration of 8 of the 9 amino acids necessary for growth.
These pinyon nuts are very tasty, extra large, sweet, juicy almost fruity. A perfect snack.They are enclosed in a shell,easily opened.

I was born and raised on a farm in San Jose, Arizona where we grew all of our own meat, animal feed, vegetables, nuts and fruit, processed our own dairy, made our own soap, butter, clothing, etc. Although I am only 64 years old, we did not have electricity on our farm until I was about 10 years old. I married, moved to the city and have been there ever since. I am so excited to find your products and am afraid I will not be able to use grocery store, mass produced, inferior, products again. I share-crop with my brother-in-law, who lives about 10 miles away, who raises fresh vegetables. I have 7 children, 29 grand children and a large extended family who also enjoy eating and living healthy.
I have been purchasing and using your olive oil and coconut oil for several months and find the quality and taste to be the best I have tried. I have also started trying your honey, almonds, almond butter and some of your grains and am very impressed with these items as well.
