We are gratified by your supportive response to our UNHULLED Tahini, as far as we know, there’s nothing else like it in north America. Also, with you in mind,we’ve supercharged our John Muir Trail Mix, replacing the pine nuts with macadamia nuts and sun dried, pitted prunes. We’ve been introducing products at a torrential rate. In our previous newsletter we introduced Austrian Pumpkin Seeds,Sun Dried Pitted Prunes,Whole Red Bananas,Pineapple Rings and Sun Dried Pears.

Organic, Alive Mangoes Cheeks - New Crop! Just Received!

Dried at 95 degrees Fahrenheit.New Crop! Just Received!Moist and Chewy. Very sweet. Aromatic - will fill your kitchen with the fragrance of aliveness.

UNHULLED Tahini

Our UNHULLED tahini is made from the whole sesame seed. It is more nutritionally rich than tahini made from hulled sesame seeds. Since hulled tahini does not use the whole sesame seed, it does not contain as much calcium protein, and vitamins as UNHULLED seeds. Unhulled seeds tend to be more bitter, so we've added Alive, Organic Brazilian Honey. We've also added our Living Tree Alive Olive Oil - unfiltered, unheated, UNPRESSED to help with spreadability.

Transform your lawn into a Fruit Garden

Its apparent that the tranquillity of the last few weeks has been that of the eye of the hurricane.Like a slow motion train wreak ,the economy is plunging into recession. Indeed, no economy can withstand for long multiple shocks like the collapse of the housing market, the flooding in the midwest (that’s going to make food prices soar) and the rise in the price of gasoline to over $4.00 per gallon. The powers that be are stymied; what with rising unemployment and a slowing economy, they can’t raise interest rates to control inflation. In fact, there’s not much they can do and this is just the beginning, You need not take it on the chin. There’s so much you can do.For example, you can get into growing at least a part of the food you eat. We suggest that you get into bio-intensive agronomy. Your brothers and sisters have long since discovered, how productive a small plot of land can be. We recommend in particular that you begin with your front yard and plant fruit trees there. We suggest that you plant apple varieties, along with pears, peaches and plums. Create a mini-orchard right there in your front yard! Let your neighbors sneer and gawk, if they will, but you will have the last laugh. At the same time, turn your backyard into an intensive vegetable garden. You can grow salad greens twelve months of the year in most parts of the States. The secret is to plant your winter garden in mid to late summer. You'll have parsley, kale, chard, celery and broccoli all winter long. If you don't have a garden, we recommend that you get together with friends and neighbors and form a community garden. More and more local governments are quite receptive to the idea. Go ahead and get together with friends, neighbors, and family and turn that abandoned parking lot into a bountiful garden. It might be the beginning of other discoveries like creating a food co-op. We take pleasure in supporting food co-ops or buying clubs. Combine your purchasing power! Buy in bulk! You'll save considerably, both on the cost of goods and on shipping. We'd be delighted to offer you wholesale prices. Contact us to request that we email to you our Coop and Buying Club literature. What wonderful discoveries you'll make! That stay-at-home mom would make an excellent manager. That retired gentleman across the way, a former accountant, would be a great bookkeeper! Put up a sign in the laundromat and see what sort of response you get! Maybe this will lead you to a further discovery- that the true “superfoods”, ”miracle foods” and “magic foods” are the parsley, lettuce, celery, spinach and chard, that you grow with neighbors and friends. Corporate Almond wants you to remain a “consumer” whose existence is defined by your purchasing power. We suggest that you hug your neighbor instead.

Living Tree Essay Contest

Obesity is an American tragedy. In a Washington Post article of May 17th we find:-

An epidemic of obesity is compromising the lives of millions of American children, with burgeoning problems that reveal how much more vulnerable young bodies are to the toxic effects of fat.

In ways only beginning to be understood, being overweight at a young age appears to be far more destructive to well-being than adding excess pounds later in life. Virtually every major organ is at risk. The greater damage is probably irreversible.

Doctors are seeing confirmation of this daily: boys and girls in elementary school suffering from high blood pressure, high cholesterol and painful joint conditions; a soaring incidence of type 2 diabetes, once a rarity in pediatricians' offices; even a spike in child gallstones, also once a singularly adult affliction. With one in three children in this country overweight or worse, the future health and productivity of an entire generation -- and a nation -- could be in jeopardy.

At Living Tree Community we believe that there is a an organic solution to this terrible affliction. Namely parsley, lettuce, kale, spinach and celery! Imagine, furthermore, that the kids were growing it themselves! We invite you to write an essay on Live Foods and Obesity. The best three will receive a jar of Alive Almond butter,16oz,,Alive Cashew Butter,Dream of Paradise,Desiree,Black Sesame Pesto and Walnut Tahini. Send your essays to jesse@livingtreecommunity.com
