Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We are pleased to announce yet another alive creation, namely,
our Chocolate Persimmon Dip. In this issue, you’ll also
find several other exciting new products. Our sale this month
features our tahini. Only at Living Tree is tahini made over
two days; we slice the sesame seeds, let them rest overnight
and then slice again the next day. We invite you to compare
its flavor and texture.
We also have added some stimulating articles
to the World Mind covering climate change, automation and
homage to conventional medicine. We suggest adding a double
hit of cacao to your smoothy before visiting the World Mind;
these articles are for those who rejoice in thinking outside
of the box. As always we welcome your comments and suggestions.
With springtime greetings,
Jesse Schwartz, Ph.D.

Chantrelle Mushrooms - Wildcrafted |

Harvested from Pacific Northwest forests and coastal areas, Chantrelles have an apricot aroma and flavor, and are a beautiful yellow in color. These mushrooms go well with nutty grain dishes and tend to have a mild peppery finish.

Recipe! Dream of Paradise - Organic Chocolate
Energy Butter |
|
|
Where else but at Living
Tree would anyone add black sesame oil to chocolate?
We've also added four varieties of California sundried
dates - Halawi, Dayri, Zahidi and Medjool. We've recreated
this popular nut butter to make it more ecstatic.
Its sophisticated flavor
is achieved by combining raw cacao with lavender flowers,
mint leaves, honey, Living Tree Alive Olive Oil, sundried
raisins, nutmeg, cardamon, cayenne and vanilla.
The maca is for energy and
the dash of Royal Himalayan Pink Crystal Salt gives
it a clean finish.

| Why We Add Curry Powder to Our Pestos |
| Our
popular pistachio, tomato, black sesame and walnut pestos
all contain curry powder. Its principal component is
tumeric. It is one of nature's most powerful healers.
The active ingredient in turmeric is curcumin. Tumeric
has been used for over 2500 years in India, where it
was most likely first used as a dye.
The medicinal properties of this
spice have been slowly revealing themselves over the
centuries. Long known for its anti-inflammatory properties,
recent research has revealed that turmeric is a natural
wonder, proving beneficial in the treatment of many
different health conditions from cancer to Alzheimer's
disease.

| What's New on the World Mind |
| We are featuring this week on the World
Mind an article entitled “Radioactivity and Climate
Disruption”.Here is an altogether original look
at global warming. The author argues that the main causal
factor is not so much the buildup of CO2 as the proliferation
of nuclear reactors. This deserves careful consideration.
The old view judged a scientific conjecture by how well
it explained the so-called “data”. A more
grown-up approach is to judge it by how many seemingly
disparate elements of reality it connects. Instead of
“global warming” this article posits increasingly
erratic weather changes and links them to radioactivity
caused by nuclear reactors. You will also find some
amazing views of the automation of the workplace and
an edifying discussion of how the US healthcare system
wastes $800 billion a year.
